Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Club

JIMS, Vasant Kunj actively contributes to Unnat Bharat Abhiyan by connecting academic expertise with rural communities to foster sustainable development, social responsibility, and community-driven solutions across adopted villages in Delhi.

Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) is an initiative launched by the Government of India in 2014, aimed at enhancing rural development by leveraging the knowledge and resources of higher educational institutions, particularly those in technology and engineering. The program is coordinated by the Ministry of Education and is spearheaded by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Its primary objective is to improve the quality of life in rural India by promoting sustainable development, addressing issues like poverty, sanitation, and education. UBA encourages higher educational institutions, particularly universities and technical college, to engage with rural communities and develop solutions tailored to their specific needs.

JIMS, Vasant Kunj as a participating institution in the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), have been deeply engaged in bridging the gap between academic knowledge and community development. Our involvement has provided students and faculty with invaluable opportunities to apply their skills and research in real- world settings, contributing to the soci-economic upliftment of rural communities. Through UBA, our institution is connected with 5 adopted villages- Chattarpur, Mahipalpur, Ber Sarai, Masoodpur and Sultan Pur, in Delhi where we collaborate with local populations to identify their pressing issues and provide sustainable solutions. Our faculty members mentor students in carrying out field surveys, data collection, and designing practical solutions based on local needs and resources. The program has encouraged interdisciplinary learning and community-based research, enabling students to gain hands-on experience in rural development. Moreover, it fosters a sense of social responsibility and a deeper understanding of rural India, promoting an ethos of service and innovation. Our institution’s involvement in UBA has not only benefited the villages but has also enriched our academic environment by creating a stronger link between education, research, and societal impact. Through UBA, we are proud to contribute to building self-reliant, sustainable communities across India.
