On 17th September 2024, the campus organized an internal Hackathon aimed at selecting the best teams to represent the institute at the prestigious Smart India Hackathon (SIH) (Ideathon) 2024. This internal event marked an important step in preparing students for the national-level competition, fostering creativity, problem-solving, and innovation. The event was structured to simulate the national-level SIH, providing students with a platform to present their ideas and prototypes in response to predefined problem statements.

The department of CSE organized a seminar on “Cyber Security” on 12th Sept 2024 in the Auditorium. Mr. Sanchay Singh, Founder and CEO of Hackersvillm, delivered the lecture. He is an expert in the field of Cyber Security. Mr. Nitish Aggarwal was a Quiz Partner from Cyberfrat. The lecture aimed to explore the vast domain of Cyber security, with a focus on understanding the foundational concepts and emerging trends in the field. The key topics discussed were introduction to DSA, understanding Cyber Threats, algorithmic problem solving, tools and techniques and emerging trends and technologies. The "Unicorns of India: An Innovative Quiz Competition" was hosted by the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and Department of Media & Communication Studies at JIMS Vasant Kunj on September 2, 2024. The competition featured multiple rounds, testing participants' knowledge and analytical skills about unicorns. Initial rounds assessed general knowledge, while later rounds explored leading unicorns like Byju’s and Paytm, highlighting innovation and disruption in industries through companies like Flipkart and Ola. The final rounds addressed the financial and entrepreneurial challenges faced by unicorns, encouraging participants to propose real-world solutions.

On September 14, 2024, the Internal Hackathon for Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2024 took place, organized by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC) in collaboration with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The event featured a distinguished jury, including Mr. Rajkumar, Technical and Solution Architect at Publicis Sapient and alumnus of JIMS, VK- Mr. Kamal Singh, Software Engineer at American Express, also a JIMS alumnus; along with Dr. Puja Munjal and Dr. Abhishek Gupta, faculty members from JIMS, Vasant Kunj. With 16 teams from the BCA program—each consisting of six members from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd years—the atmosphere was vibrant as participants showcased their innovative solutions. Each team had 8 minutes for their presentations, followed by 2 minutes for questions. The jury evaluated presentations based on criteria such as originality, complexity, practicality, sustainability, and potential impact.

Mr. Dalal was then called up to share his story and journey from a space engineer to now an entrepreneur. He spoke about how he manages his passion and career simultaneously. JIMS VK1: PAD DONATION DRIVE

Rotaract Club of JIMS VK organized a significant Pad Donation Drive at Masoodpur Village, Vasant Kunj, on 30th September 2024, that aimed at supporting underprivileged women in the community. During the drive, the club successfully distributed 1,200 sanitary napkins to women who often lack access to essential menstrual hygiene products. The Business Analytics Club organized an event titled “Spreadsheet Showdown” for PGDM and PGDM-IB students of batch 2024-26 on September 10, 2024. This quiz aimed to test the participants’ knowledge of excel formulas and shortcuts to assess their proficiency in using Excel effectively. The final round had 8 participants who were assigned a dataset and were asked to answer the queries on the basis of advanced data analysis techniques. The session featured Mr. Ajay and Ms. Shyma Jha, founders of the Millet Magic Foundation, a promising startup making strides in the highly competitive superfood market. JIMS Greater Noida: Industry Visit to Amar Ujala Press
|
The BBA department organized an industry visit for 3rd Semester students on 23rd September 2024 at Amar Ujala, Noida. The relevant authorities greeted BBA students and faculty members warmly and escorted them to a presentation hall where they were given a thorough rundown of the origins, operation, and method of producing newspapers. Following that, everyone was shown how newspapers are printed in large quantities and showed how printing plates and machinery operate in the main publishing and printing area. The experts who were servicing the equipment described how various colour combinations are made to print a coloured newspaper and how the copies are then separated geographically to be sent to readers all over the nation. Many startling and remarkable facts were also brought to light that were all enjoyed by students as fresh learning. The goal of providing students with a realistic understanding and practical experience of managing a large enterprise was achieved through the industry tour.

On 25th September 2024 , Mr. Amit Rathi delivered an insightful guest lecture on career progression for BBA students. He discussed the career trajectory for BBA graduates in India, starting with entry-level roles in business development, marketing and finance and progressing to managerial and senior-level positions. Mr. Rathi emphasized the importance of skills like leadership, communication and technical expertise in areas such as data analysis and digital marketing. He also spoke about global opportunities, particularly in the U.S., Europe and the Middle East, encouraging students to pursue international internships and higher education like an MBA or certifications.

On 3rd September 2024, an engaging moot court competition was conducted over two lecture sessions, featuring the participation of 7 teams. Each team consisted of two mooters and one researcher, providing a comprehensive examination of their legal skills and understanding. The competition was structured to challenge participants' proficiency in banking law by presenting them with a complex problem that required the application of several key legislative acts. The moot problem presented to the teams was intricately designed to encompass various aspects of banking law, demanding the application of the SARFAESI Act, the Indian Contract Act, and the Insurance Act.

The 2nd Youth Parliament Debate Competition, organized by the Debate and Discussion Society aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of how the Youth Parliament works. The competition was divided into two sessions, each focusing on different aspects of governance and social justice. On 20.09.2024, the Department of Law organized an insightful session on "Socio-Economic Offences with Special Reference to the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA)." Ms. Gunita, the moderator introduced the speaker, emphasizing his expertise in socio-economic offences and his vast experience in handling critical cases. The session opened with an overview of socio-economic offences, which are crimes that have a widespread impact on both society and the economy. The speaker explained how these offences, such as black marketing, tax evasion, and food adulteration, can harm the moral and social fabric of the nation. The speaker then discussed the various types of socio-economic offences, including Tax evasion, Misuse of public office, Hoarding and black marketing, Adulteration of food and drugs etc.

On 24th September 2024, the Department of Law, in collaboration with the Moot Court Society, organized a Subject Moot Court Competition for the 7th semester students. The event, presided over by Ms. Aashna Sinha, aimed to enhance students' understanding of tax law through practical legal engagement. A total of 24 participants, comprising 15 boys and 9 girls, took part in the competition, which involved arguing a case related to taxation on income from house property, and the interpretation of key provisions under the Income Tax Act.

Department of Law organized an educational tour to Dr. Ambedkar National Memorial on 26th September, 2024 to apprise students on Fundamental Rights and Duties provided in the Constitution of India. Since it’s an activity for personality development, it was decided to introduce one of the founding fathers and chief Architect of Constitution by making a visit to the newly built Memorial so that the students could become sensitive by observing the contribution and great works of Dr. B.R Ambedkar.

JIMS Greater Noida: Campus Cleanliness Drive on the occasion of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

The National Service Scheme (NSS) organized a campus cleanliness drive on 27th September 2024, aimed at promoting a cleaner and healthier environment. This initiative reflects NSS's commitment to social service and community development, encouraging students to actively participate in environmental conservation. The objectives of this drive included enhancing the overall cleanliness of the campus, raising awareness about the importance of cleanliness and environmental protection and to foster a sense of responsibility among students regarding waste management. The drive saw enthusiastic participation from over 40 NSS volunteers, along with faculty members and other students. The collective effort showcased the spirit of teamwork and commitment to environmental sustainability. Approximately 5kg of Non Bio waste and 2 kg Bio waste were collected.

JIMS VK1: POP-IT EVENT
|
The NSS CELL of JIMS VK organised the “Pop-It Event” which was held at the Girls Common Room, JIMS Vasant Kunj on 9th September 2024. In this initiative, a very simple yet powerful activity was conducted to enable participants to deal with and overcome their insecurities. Volunteers were given balloons and writing materials to start the event. Each of them was inflated by the participants and the participants were asked to write their insecurities on them. The activity went on, where volunteers shared various insecurities that they had written down. This sharing allowed the participants to realize that many of them go through similar challenges, therefore creating a sense of community and support.

JIMS VK1: SANRAKSHAN- a road safety workshop
|
"Sanrakshan," a road safety workshop was organized by the Rotaract Club of JIMS Vasant Kunj, CII YI YUVA, and Indian Road Safety Campaign (IRSC), on 13th of September, 2024, with the aim to raise awareness and provide hands-on training. The event began with an introduction to IRSC by volunteer Isha Ghatate, who shared alarming road safety statistics and emphasized the importance of the "Golden Hour" for saving lives after accidents.
The second half featured Dr. Raajeshwaran Ammavasai and his team, who led a detailed session on first aid, CPR. They demonstrated life-saving techniques such as bleeding control, burn care, and fracture management, followed by hands-on CPR training. Participants practiced chest compressions and rescue breaths under expert guidance, building confidence in responding to emergencies.

On 10 September 2024 NSS Cell JIMS Vasant Kunj had the privilege of participating in the 1st Foundation Day celebration of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
