Dear Student,
The monsoons in India are generally referred to the season of rains eagerly awaited every year from the first week of June. The south-west monsoon winds cause heavy rainfall in India providing much relief from heat. The temperature remains pleasant during the monsoons after a long spell of heat in summer months. The agriculture of our country majorly depends upon water from rainfall which is of immense value to the farmers. The greatest boon of the monsoons is the rich cultivation of many crops in most parts of the Country. However excessive rainfall in some parts of the Country, is detrimental to the crops and normal life of people. The prices of food-stuffs go up during the rainy season. Like everything in life, timely monsoon is most welcome. However, excessive or inadequate rainfall leads to scarcity and famine. Adequate rainfall during the sowing season ensures good harvest. If it is very late, plants and trees are badly affected. A good monsoon means prosperity. The change in season is almost magical. The air becomes delightfully cool and moist. The sun’s heat is day by day moderated by the clouds, the dry parched land is quickly covered with green vegetation and life becomes bearable and enjoyable. For urban areas, the rains bring much relief from heat for people and the temperature becomes pleasant. However, the rains also bring some obstacles for life including flooding and water-logging. However, the monsoons are an essential part of our lives. Let’s enjoy each drop of the monsoons.
